Some basic info to help you plan your trip...


Getting to Santa Fe

Flying to Santa Fe (SAF) - American Airlines offers flights to Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF) from Dallas, and L.A., and United serves Santa Fe from Denver. The Santa Fe airport is ~20 minutes from downtown Santa Fe and the plaza.  Ground transportation options include:

  • RoadRunner Shuttle has private and shared cars (Reservations: 505-424-3367
  • Rental Car: Hertz and Avis both serve SAF&ABQ
  • Taxi
  • Most hotels also offer airport transfer service for a fee

Flying to Albuquerque - Most major airlines serve Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), and flights are generally less expensive than those to Santa Fe. The Albuquerque airport is ~ 60 minutes from downtown Santa Fe.  Ground transportation options include:

  • Sandia Shuttle Express (1-888-755-5696) which makes ~30 trips daily between Santa Fe Hotels and ABQ.  $28 per person.
  • Rental Car
  • New Mexico Rail Runner is a train that runs hourly from Albuquerque to Santa Fe.  This train does not stop at the airport, but there is a quick shuttle from the airport to the train station in downtown Albuquerque.

Driving - Santa Fe is 5-6 hours from Denver.  I-25 is the fastest route, but consider taking US 160 and passing through Taos, NM. 


Getting around Santa Fe

Walking  - If you stay close to the plaza and downtown Santa Fe, many of the great galleries, museums, shops, and restaurants are within walking distance!

Shuttles - There will be shuttles to the wedding and reception from the Plaza. Rancho Encantado provides a free shuttle service to and from town (not the airport) for hotel guests.

Taxis - Call Capitol City Cab at (505) 438-0000

Rental Cars - A rental car is a good idea if…

  • You want to get out and hike in the beautiful parks that surround Santa Fe like the Santa Fe National Forest and Pecos Wilderness Area,
  • You want to head over to Valles Caldera for a quick 10k or ½ marathon on May 3rd,
  • You’d like to visit other historic places in the area, like Taos (small town with lovely art galleries and tons of Native American crafts), Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu (retreat and educational center with incredible history; inspiration for Georgia O’Keefe), or Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument.
  • You just want some flexibility.

Getting to and from wedding events

Rehearsal Dinner (invite only) & Cocktail (all guests) @ La Fonda

  • Shuttles (guests staying at Rancho Encatado) The hotel provides shuttles to/from town. 
  • Walking (guests staying in Santa Fe)  La Fonda is walking distance from all our recommended hotels.

Ceremony & Reception @ Rancho Encantado

  • Shuttles (guests staying in downtown Santa Fe) - shuttles will be provided between the hotels in town and Rancho Encantado which is 15 minutes north of town.  They will run from approximately 3-5 pm and 11pm – 2am.  If you prefer to drive, please designate a driver.

    What to wear in Santa Fe

    The average temperature in Santa Fe at this time of year is a high of ~70 and low of ~40.  It get’s pretty cold when the sun goes down, so bring some warm things!

    Wedding attire is semi formal.  For ladies, long or short dresses. Suits for men.


    Staying healthy in Santa Fe

    Santa Fe is located at over 7,000 feet above sea level, and altitude sickness is always a possibility. Drink a lot of water!  Take aspirin daily for a week before your trip and while you’re in Santa Fe. Prepare for cold nights – it can be very chilly in the high desert after the sun sets.
